2010-2011 FAIRBANK CUP
Although we again experienced the big freeze this winter, this did not noticeably hamper the Fairbank Cup fixtures as in the past two years. Disappointingly, five matches were conceded in the first two rounds, but there were nonetheless some very closely fought matches with six of them going the full distance, including the final. Last year's winners from the third division, Denham Village G, and newcomers to the second division, Stoke Poges Panthers, emerged as the finalists and put on the most thrilling contest seen for many a year.
The Village players Vince Gaches, Matt Condon and junior Adam Crossley were very closely matched with Stoke's Anthony Simpson, John Raemers and Mike Anderson, justifying their handicapping, and were on level pegging going into the final set. John had one hand on the cup as he won the first game, but after a good pep talk in his corner, Adam, who has only just turned 14, managed to rally and turn the match around in his favour.
There were 6 members from the league committee on hand, and Chairman Bob Baines proudly presented the trophies on an evening to be remembered by all.

Winners: Vince Gaches, Adam Crossley, Matt Condon Runners-Up: Mike Anderson, Anthony Simpson, John Raemers
